What do you charge for a shoot?

Portrait Sessions for West Point Firsties are $200 for 1 hour shoot, yielding ~50 final photos.

For other kinds of shoots, price will be decided based on the time spent shooting, number of images requested, and the kind of editing requested. Reach out through my “contact” page to get a quote.

Why do you charge what you do?

Photography costs come not only from labor time (including hours editing after a shoot) and product, but from the investment required for the job—cameras, lenses, batteries, memory cards, editing software, etc. As with most photographers, my prices help offset the thousands of dollars spent on the equipment which makes my craft possible.

Can I purchase prints of my portraits, or can I print them myself?

If you’d like any prints of your portraits, please let me know and I’d be happy to have them printed at a charge of only what it costs to print. I ask that you please refrain from printing photos yourself—a printed photograph is the most tangible evidence of my artistic work, and the type and quality of that print impact how I am represented as an artist. As such, I prefer to be involved in the printing process to ensure that every aspect of my photos are accurately represented.

If you’d like to purchase a print of my existing work, reach out through my “contact” page. Prints of existing work have a surcharge of 50% of the printing cost (before shipping).

Can I have my portraits shot on film?

Absolutely! Film stock provides a beautifully organic look that’s desirable to many. Film portraiture does require a lead time to order professional-grade film, and the quote will include the extra cost of purchasing and developing film. For most work, I use Kodak Portra film (160, 400, or 800), but if you have a preferred film stock, I’d be happy to use that.
